This weekend I picked up my invitations from Kid Icarus and I couldn’t be more thrilled with them. I can’t wait to send them off, but first, because I like to package things pretty, I decided to jazz up our brown kraft paper envelopes a bit. Since we’re working on small budget, hiring a calligrapher was definitely out of the question and I waited to long to order a custom return address stamp from Etsy, so I did the next best thing and created my own custom return address stamp using the Trodat Do-It-Yourself Self-Inking Stamp kit I picked up from Staples. It’s definitely a different look than beautiful hand lettering, but I like the effect nonetheless. To finish off the back of the envelopes, I added a piece of striped washi tape to seal them.

To add a bit more interest to the front of the envelopes I added some vintage stamps. Send More Mail sells these cute little postage packs for $2 each at both the Paper Place and Kid Icarus. Each pack is different and contains enough postage to mail a standard sized letter within Canada. Don’t you think they make it look so much prettier than using one boring old stamp? I also custom stamped each address. I don’t recommend you do this yourself, however, unless you have a very small guest list or really enjoy moving small letters around with tweezers.

And finally, a tiny tiny sneak peek at the invitations themselves. They haven’t been sent out yet so I don’t want to give them away completely, but here’s a little bit what they look like (sorry for the somewhat terrible photo). A huge thanks again to Mariah and to Mike and Bianca at Kid Icarus for all their amazing work.

I just used a few small, inexpensive details on the envelopes, but I think they really added a lot to the overall look. What do you guys think?
