Sometimes a little minimalism can go a long way; case in point, Yan and Takami’s intimate Niagara-on-the-Lake wedding. Theirs is not a wedding with a million details, just a few perfectly executed ones – an 8′ cathedral length veil, a custom Italian-made suit, a handful of peonies – all exquisitely captured by the talented ladies at Young Hearts Photography. The result: a beautifully simple, sophisticated, and chic garden wedding that just might make you reconsider all those big, extravagant wedding plans you had.
Yan and Takami’s wedding invitations, designed by Doublenaut, feature illustrations representing different aspects of their life together including their family cat, Yan’s French heritage, and their love of motorcycle trips.
Takami carefully selected her wedding attire to honour her heritage, upbringing, and her new family. Takami’s ceremony gown was designed by Tadashi Shoji, a Japanese designer chosen to represent her Japanese nationality. For the reception, Takami switched into a Nicole Miller dress to represent her American birth and upbringing. And finally, to recognize her new French family, she donned a beautiful pair of Givenchy earrings.
Yan’s son Leonard seems pretty unimpressed to be wearing a tie, but he looks just as dapper as his dad, nonetheless.
In Takami’s Words:
My husband and I absolutely love the Niagara region for its beauty and wines. I’ll hop onto the back of one of his motorcycles (either his 2012 Harley Davidson Dyna Street Bob or his fully-restored 1973 Suzuki GT380) and do the scenic wine route while stopping for wine-tastings. We will then have lunch somewhere in Niagara-on-the-Lake. It’s one of our favorite day-trips during the summer time. So it only felt natural to choose our wedding location in that area. We also had about 1/3 of our guests flying in from Japan, France, and the US so we wanted them to enjoy the best of what the Niagara region has to offer.
Party favors for adults consisted of retro-looking brown paper bags filled with boxes of dragées (French candy-coated almonds) and loose bags of matcha green tea. Kids got similar paper bags filled with dragées and Japanese candy and chocolates.
What a beautiful couple. Congrats Yan and Takami!
